Queensland records just one overseas case of COVID-19, state border reopening
Queensland has recorded just one case of COVID-19, hours ahead of the much-anticipated border reopening to the rest of Australia.
The case is a returned overseas traveller from Nigeria and is in hotel quarantine.
Deputy Chief Health Officer James Smith said health authorities were closely monitoring the case given the Omicron and "African connection".
"We're very closely following his genomic sequencing results which should be available in the next two days … obviously very interested whether this maybe Omicron," he said.
